About Us

During the Vintage of 1997, the Little family merged their wine business with the Kindred family's viticultural business also in Palmers Lane Pokolbin. Soon after, Christopher Cowper and Graeme Avery, who are associated with Sileni Wines in New Zealand, became investors along with associates of Peter Kende from Hong Kong. The Kindred family have been established in Pokolbin since 1965 with the vineyards being planted in the early 70's. The Kindred's as vigneron's have supplied grapes over the years to such wineries as Brokenwood, Tyrell's and Lakes Folly. The ability of Little's Wines to use grapes from the Kindred's well established vineyards had immediate success with the 1997 Semillon winning the Boutique Winemaker's Semillon Trophy.

Since the amalgamation, the awards have continually flowed, with all the awards coming from the Kindred's vineyards. These vineyards are replantings of vineyards from the old Daisy Hill winery, which was one of the most substantial wineries in the Hunter Valley, up until the mid 1950's. Daisy Hill winery won many awards with the most notable being a trophy from the Paris International Exhibition in the late 19th century.

Our neighbours are the Vintage Country Club at Pokolbin, which features a Greg Norman designed golf course and a residential development.

Vineyard News
Our Viticulture Manager David Blanch, presides over 30 hectares of vines covering both the Lochleven and Homested vineyards. Semillon, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvigon and Pinot Noir are grown on the Lochleven vineyard and Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz on the Homested vineyard. Semi-organic viticultural practices with experimental mulching under the vines and a permanent sward between the dripper irrigated rows promotes healthy vines and quality fruit.
